To Whom Shall We Go?

Posted by Kevin_A_Perkins On May - 30 - 2010

This Week’s Sermon is entitled:

“To Whom Shall We Go?”

The Scriptures I used were:  John 6:66-68, Phillipians 2:12 and Acts 2:14

 – John 6:66-68  66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him. 67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? 68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

Phillipians 2:12  12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

 – Acts 2:14  14 But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice, and said unto them, Ye men of Judaea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken to my words:

Once you have really found and met Jesus you’ll be just like Peter and all you can do is say, “To whom shall I go?” If you haven’t had that encounter with Jesus yet I encourage you to begin to seek after an encounter that strong because you’ll never be the same.

Being Fully Persuaded

The Scripture I used was: Romans 4:16-21

16Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,

17(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.

18Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.

19And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:

 20He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;

21And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.

Abraham was 75 years old when he was promised Issac (Genesis 12) and Issac wasn’t born until he was 100. That’s a total of 25 years he waited! Become fully persudaded and believe that God is able to do what He’s promised you. Don’t let timing discourage you. God has a time for everything. (Ecclesiates 3)

Forsaking Everything

“Forsaking Everything”

The Scripture I used was: Luke 18: 28-30

28 Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee.

29 And he said unto them, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children, for the kingdom of God’s sake,

30 Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

God has a plan for your life and even if He’s calling you to forsake everything, He’s got you covered and He will take care of you. No matter how or big or small the sacrifice is that you may have to make for ministry, always know that He will bless You if you just do what He’s called you to do.

A Still Small Voice

“A Still Small Voice”

The Scriptures I used were: 1 Kings 19:11-12, 1 Samuel 3:1-18, Matthew 6:33

– 1 Kings 19:11-12 –

11 And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.

– 1 Samuel 3:1-18 –
1 And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision.

2 And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see;

3 And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep;

4 That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.

5 And he ran unto Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou calledst me. And he said, I called not; lie down again. And he went and lay down.

6 And the LORD called yet again, Samuel. And Samuel arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And he answered, I called not, my son; lie down again.

7 Now Samuel did not yet know the LORD, neither was the word of the LORD yet revealed unto him.

8 And the LORD called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli, and said, Here am I; for thou didst call me. And Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child.

9 Therefore Eli said unto Samuel, Go, lie down: and it shall be, if he call thee, that thou shalt say, Speak, LORD; for thy servant heareth. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

10 And the LORD came, and stood, and called as at other times, Samuel, Samuel. Then Samuel answered, Speak; for thy servant heareth.

11 And the LORD said to Samuel, Behold, I will do a thing in Israel, at which both the ears of every one that heareth it shall tingle.

12 In that day I will perform against Eli all things which I have spoken concerning his house: when I begin, I will also make an end.

13 For I have told him that I will judge his house for ever for the iniquity which he knoweth; because his sons made themselves vile, and he restrained them not.

14 And therefore I have sworn unto the house of Eli, that the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be purged with sacrifice nor offering for ever.

15 And Samuel lay until the morning, and opened the doors of the house of the LORD. And Samuel feared to shew Eli the vision.

16 Then Eli called Samuel, and said, Samuel, my son. And he answered, Here am I.

17 And he said, What is the thing that the LORD hath said unto thee? I pray thee hide it not from me: God do so to thee, and more also, if thou hide any thing from me of all the things that he said unto thee.

18 And Samuel told him every whit, and hid nothing from him. And he said, It is the LORD: let him do what seemeth him good.

 – Matthew 6:33 –
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Most of the time God uses a still small voice or something little to speak to you in your life. Get alone with God and don’t neglect the little things He tells You to do or reveals to You. Everything He says and does means something, it’s crucial for you to realize that.

Real Faith

Posted by Kevin_A_Perkins On May - 2 - 2010

I’ve just posted a sermon entitled “Real Faith” on my Sermon Podcast Page

The Scriptures I used were: Hebrews 11:1,6,  Matthew 12:37, and Romans 10:17

– Hebrews 11:1 — 1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

– Hebrews 11:6 –  6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

 – Romans 10:17 –  17  So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

Real faith is believing God can do what He said He can do right now.  Not tomorrow or next week, right now.
