Let Go And Let God

Posted by Kevin_A_Perkins On March - 4 - 2010

Why do we try so hard to stay in control of our lives?  I think the control issue we face in our own personal lives is same reason our world is in the mess it is. Everything in the world says you and only you have got to make things change and you’ve got to fix your situation. If you’re not happy it’s your fault. If you’re not rich it’s your fault. Etc..

People are deceived into thinking that prayer doesn’t work anymore, that God doesn’t move in situations anymore but He does. Matthew 7:7 says, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Regardless of what the world says that’s the truth. God’s word is the same yesterday, today and forever.

God wants to move but like each one of us is, he doesn’t come where He’s not welcome. If you don’t allow God to work in your finances, problems or any other situation in your life He won’t. If you don’t allow Him to have control, He won’t just take over.

Let God take control of your life if you haven’t already. You know I sat down almost in tears one day because of the mess my life was in. You know why it was in that mess though? Exactly… I was in control. I remember it like yesterday, I was sitting in my car in front of my house, and I had both hands on the steering wheel. I lifted my hands of the wheel and said this is  representation of my life God. I’m letting go of it and giving you control. My hands are tied behind my back.

I told God I’ve made such a mess trying to make everything better. It’s only got a whole lot worse. I’m allowing You to take control Jesus and Holy Spirit. I can’t do this anymore. That’s another devotional in itself though. From that day on, everything in my life has just been getting better and better. I’ll share more on that in a future. For now, I’ll leave you with this, allow God to take control of your life. You can’t fix everything in your life but He can.

There’s a popular phrase that goes along with this and if you don’t take anything else from this devotional take this with you: “Let Go And Let God”.
